Straumsnes is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the northern part of the present-day municipality of Tingvoll.[1]
The municipality of Straumsnes was established on 1 January 1866 when the municipality of Tingvoll was divided. The initial population of Straumsnes was 1,222. On 1 January 1868, an uninhabited district of Halsa was transferred to Straumsnes. On 1 January 1964, Straumsnes (population: 1,160) and the part of Frei on the island of Aspøya was merged together with Tingvoll.[2]
